The DLSU men’s and women’s volleyball teams enter the S87 tournament with high hopes to improve on their 3rd place finishes last season.
The Lady Spikers ran into unexpected hurdles in S86, primarily the injury to mainstay Angel Canino that left her unable to play for most of the season, finished 3rd in the eliminations with an 11-3 tally before dropping a tight 3-2 final 4 playoff to eventual runner-up UST.
The Green Spikers improved on their previous 4th place in Season 85 with a bronze medal finish last season. They managed a playoff for 2nd and 3rd seeding in the playoffs after finishing tied for 2nd with NU after the eliminations, However, they fell 3-2 to NU in the playoff for 2nd and the twice-to-beat advantage, then dropped the must-win game 3-1. NU eventually defeated UST for the title.
It will be tough, but both teams seem up to the challenge.
