The De La Salle Lady Spikers suffered their 1st loss of the seasons against the NU Lady Bulldogs in a surprising sweep. It’s been a while since the team had been whitewashed in a UAAP game, but this is a new season, and a really new team.

At first, the Lady Spikers kept things close against the Lady Bulldogs in the opening set, but ended up trailing most of the set. The newness of the team showed, with a series or errors allowing the Lady Bulldogs to secure the 1st set at 22 – 25.

The Spikers attempted to stage a comeback in the second set, but with the Lady Bulldogs already brimming with confidence, every La Salle point was matched by NU. With the momentum clearly on the side of Lady Bulldogs, they romped to a 15-25 set 2 score.

By now the Lady Spikers were probably a bit deflated, but still gave it an honest effort, and fared better than in the second set. They kept it closer, but allowed NU to reach a match point at 21-24. An attack error by promising rookie Alleiah Malaluan, who was our top scorer, closed out the set and match.

The Lady Spikers are now at 2 – 1 while the NU Lady Bulldogs shared the top spot with UP Lady Maroons at 3 – 0. The Lady Spikers next match is on Thursday at 6pm against Coach Kung Fu and his UST Growling Tigresses.
